This morning at approximately 8:14 a.m., the fire alarm on campus was activated. The fire department quickly arrived to check the nature of the alarm. It was determined that the alarm was triggered by a panel being serviced and not by an actual fire.
At no time was there any threat to students or staff. By 8:43 a.m., the situation was resolved, and the campus returned to normal operations.
The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we thank you for your understanding.

Estimadas familias de la Escuela Secundaria Cesar Chavez,
Esta maƱana, aproximadamente a las 8:14 a. m., se activĆ³ la alarma contra incendios en el plantel. El departamento de bomberos llegĆ³ rĆ”pidamente para revisar la causa de la alarma. Se determinĆ³ que la alarma fue provocada por un panel que estaba siendo reparado y no por un incendio real.
En ningĆŗn momento hubo amenaza para los estudiantes ni el personal. A las 8:43 a. m., la situaciĆ³n quedĆ³ resuelta y el plantel retomĆ³ sus operaciones normales.
La seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y personal sigue siendo nuestra mĆ”xima prioridad, y agradecemos su comprensiĆ³n.

š¢In accordance with Texas House Bill 1481, La Joya ISD has adopted a new policy on personal communication devices to support a focused and respectful learning environment. The law requires school districts to limit device use during instructional time and ensure consistent enforcement across campuses. Beginning in the 2025ā26 school year, students will not be allowed to use cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds or similar electronic devices during the instructional day from arrival to dismissal. The law aims to reduce distractions and improve safety in school settings. Below, youāll find answers to common questions and key points about how the policy works.
