La Joya ISD Invests $3 Million in Student Technology to Expand Access and Prepare Students for the Future

La Joya, TX - From a Pre-K student exploring a digital learning activity for the first time to a high school freshman preparing for increasingly technology-driven coursework, La Joya ISD is investing in the tools students need at every stage of their education.
For the second consecutive year, La Joya ISD has invested $3 million in student technology with a major device refresh across campuses. The investment places updated technology directly into the hands of students at key grade levels, expanding access to reliable digital learning tools while supporting instruction, collaboration, creativity, and college and career readiness.
Through the device refresh, Pre-K students will receive iPads, second- and sixth-grade students will receive Chromebooks, and ninth-grade students will receive Windows laptops. Students will continue using their assigned device as they advance to the next grade level, until they reach the next designated point in their academic journey when a new device is provided.
“This $3 million investment is about much more than purchasing new devices - it is about making sure our students have access to the technology they need to learn, create, collaborate, and prepare for their future,” said Haissam Mayasi, Chief Technology Officer for La Joya ISD. “Technology is part of nearly every career and every industry our students will encounter. By providing the right device at the right time in their educational journey, we are creating opportunities for students to build those skills early and continue strengthening them all the way through high school.”
For the district’s youngest learners, iPads provide an engaging and intuitive introduction to technology while supporting age-appropriate exploration and learning. As students advance, Chromebooks provide secure and accessible tools for classroom instruction, digital assignments, research, and collaboration. By ninth grade, Windows laptops provide students with increased performance and versatility as coursework becomes more rigorous and students begin preparing more intentionally for college, career pathways, certifications, and life after graduation.
The initiative reflects the district’s Achieving Excellence Together: 2030 Strategic Plan and its commitment to Empowered Graduates and Operational Excellence & Financial Stability. By strategically investing resources in technology that directly supports teaching and learning, La Joya ISD is building an infrastructure designed to meet students’ needs today while preparing them for the opportunities of tomorrow.
“Access to technology is access to opportunity,” added Mayasi. “Our responsibility is to make sure every student has the tools to participate fully in today’s classroom and develop the skills they will need beyond it. When we invest in our students today, we are investing in the future of our entire community.”
