LA JOYA ISD EARNS PERFECT 100 IN PRELIMINARY STATE FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY RATING

LA JOYA, TEXAS – La Joya Independent School District is proud to announce that it has earned a perfect score of 100 and an “A – Superior Achievement” rating in the Texas Education Agency’s preliminary 2025–2026 Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST).
The score of 100 represents the maximum points available under the state’s financial accountability rating system and marks an important milestone in La Joya ISD’s continued commitment to strong fiscal management and responsible stewardship of district resources.
“This perfect score reflects the strong financial practices, careful planning, and accountability that guide our work at La Joya ISD,” said Mirgitt Crespo, Chief of Business, Finance and Administrative Services. “Every financial decision we make is centered on being responsible stewards of our resources while ensuring our schools have the support they need to serve students. Earning the maximum 100 points is an accomplishment we are extremely proud of, and it reflects the collective work taking place across our district.”
The Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) is the state’s financial accountability system for public school districts. The system evaluates the quality of a district’s financial management practices and its ability to effectively manage resources while maximizing funding available to support instruction.
La Joya ISD’s preliminary 2025–2026 result continues a strong record of earning the state’s highest financial accountability designation over the last four years:

Over the past four years, La Joya ISD has consistently earned an “A – Superior Achievement” rating, culminating this year with a perfect score of 100.
“This achievement is especially meaningful because strong financial management directly supports our ability to invest in our classrooms and in the priorities that matter most for our students,” Crespo added. “A perfect score demonstrates that fiscal responsibility and our commitment to students go hand in hand.”
The 2025–2026 rating is currently preliminary and will become final following TEA’s established review process.
