Vision: Stretching Minds, Nurturing Greatness

About our School: Cesar E. Chavez Middle School was established in 1995 with Jose Luis Garza as Principal. Due to the growing population in La Joya in the early to mid 90’s, students that were part of  La Joya Middle School enthusiastically awaited the arrival of the new Cesar. E. Chavez Middle School.  In keeping a part of La Joya Middle School’s memory alive, Mr. Garza along with the School Board, named the hallways of Cesar. E. Chavez Middle School L.J.M.S. Today we have our sixth graders in the L wing, our seventh graders in the J and part of M wings, and our eighth graders occupy part of the M and S wings.  Mr. Daniel Villarreal, who took the role of Principal in 2002 along with the 102 employees work together every day to ensure that each child is given the opportunity to learn and build on their talents.

Cesar E. Chavez Middle School is a TEA “Met Standard” school, earning 5 distinctions for the 2015-2016 school year.  Our campus was also TEA Recognized for seven consecutive years and met AYP status in 2002-2003; 2003-2004; 2005-2006; 2006-2007; 2008-2009; 2009-2010; 2010-2011. CCMS also received the National Center for Educational Achievement Award in 2010 and 2011. It was a great honor to also have been chosen for Region One’s Showcasing of Effective Schools in 2010. Cesar E. Chavez Middle School continues to promote La Joya ISD’s mission statement that proclaims educational excellence is the right of every student and that all students have access to quality educational opportunities that enable them to perform at higher levels.
